501cTECH, formerly known as NPower Greater DC and previously Technology Works for Good, was created in 1999 by our region’s philanthropic and business leaders to serve as a trusted source for the nonprofit community in the critical area of information technology. Our founding funders include the Eugene and Agnes E, Meyer Foundation, the AOL Foundation, the Fannie Mae Foundation, and Microsoft.
Since our launch, we have helped thousands of nonprofits make the best use of technology to impact their missions. We have done this in a variety of ways: technology planning, strategy development, hands on support, software selection and deployment, migration to cloud computing, tech training, and countless workshops. Our most important accomplishment is right sizing sophisticated technology and making it affordable to nonprofits. We are a leader in helping to build the capacity of other nonprofit organizations and collaborate wherever possible. Our partners include Compass, Catalogue of Philanthropy, Nonprofit Roundtable, Center for Nonprofit Advancement, United Way, Fair Chance, Maryland Nonprofit, and Taproot to name a few. We have received many awards over the years, including being a finalist in the Washington Post Excellence in Nonprofit Awards, repeatedly featured in the Catalogue of Philanthropy, and our CEO was a recipient of the Eugene & Agnes E. Meyer Foundation’s prestigious Exponent Award. We are proud of how we help our clients to build a better and stronger community. Through our work, we help them to serve vulnerable populations, protect the environment, increase access to healthcare, maintain a vibrant and creative culture, and educate students of all ages. We’re passionate about our clients’ work and are proud to partner with a broad spectrum of dynamic organizations to help them increase their capacity and meet their missions.
At 501cTECH, technology is not only our business, but also our passion to leverage our IT expertise to help change the world around us. We approach our work with seasoned business discipline, combined with a healthy dose of idealism. Because 501cTECH also is a nonprofit organization, our team understands the challenges faced by fellow nonprofits. We “get” that funding and staff are limited, prioritized for program delivery, and that no two organizations are alike. To achieve the maximum return for our clients, all technology solutions are thoughtfully designed and tailored to fit each client’s unique requirements. Our goal is guide our clients to take advantage of cutting-edge technology to better manage their nonprofit, stretch their dollars further, and perhaps most importantly, take away the worry, allowing them to focus more money and energy on advancing their core missions.
